I have truly savored this book. I can tell the author has taken a decade to write it. So much care and detail has been taken to share both his own stories of journey and soul excavation. At 50, it was so good to read this and look back over my own five decades and see things God has done to craft the man I am today as well as the man I am becoming. This may become the one book I gift over and over to the men I know as well as the women in their lives. Now I think I need to read it again. I really feel conflicted about only giving this book 3 stars, because the overall message of the book and what it represents is so very vital to developing into the man that God intended for us to be. It should also be noted that I love most of the books (and podcasts) put out by Ransomed Heart (now renamed Wild At Heart). This ministry has been life-changing for me.But, for me personally, I just had a hard time connecting and relating to Morgan. He is a man who has always wanted to be the leader, is seemingly intense, and just doesn’t really come across as a regular guy with regular guy issues, despite his attempts to portray himself that way. I found the book to be a very heavy read for just 240 pages. Even just a little bit of humor or light-heartedness here and there would have made a big difference and eased the tension of this book a little. Of course, this is just my opinion. Many men will be able to relate to him. But I just found myself slogging through the book.All of that being said, I do recommend reading this book. There are certainly lessons and tactics that can be put into practical use in your journey as a man.
